1st SSR Cadaveric Interventional and Diagnostic Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Course
MESSAGE FROM THE ORGANISING CHAIR...
Dear participant,
This year, as we meet for the 16th Singapore Society of Rheumatology-Malaysian Society of Rheumatology Annual Workshops in Rheumatology, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the pre-Congress Ultrasound Workshop. We have an exciting 2 ½ day programme designed for all medical professionals with an interest in musculoskeletal ultrasound imaging and intervention.
This meeting will be held in the Academia, an iconic landmark which opened its doors in 2013 on the Singapore General Hospital campus. In this conducive environment, hands-on training of intervention and injection techniques of the extremities, hips and spine, are taught using human cadavers in a wet surgical skills laboratory. Our overseas teaching faculty for these sessions is Dr. Thomas Clark (founder of MSKUS) and Dr. Stanley Lam (MSKUS faculty). A practical Handbook of Diagnostic Ultrasound by Dr. Clark will be provided to all participants.
In the Diagnostic Workshop, focus is given to protocol based scanning and ‘pearls’ for obtaining high quality images using live models, with practical tuition conducted in small groups. We have also lined-up interesting keynote lectures with an emphasis on sonoanatomy and joint pathology.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
1.To provide hands-on experience of injection techniques using human cadavers 2.To provide an intensive practical training in small groups 3.To provide a knowledge of protocolised scanning in each joint area 4.To provide an introduction to musculoskeletal anatomy and pathology through lectures and live demos
SPECIFIC AREAS INCLUDE
Hand/Wrist Ultrasound
Foot/Ankle Ultrasound
Shoulder Ultrasound
Elbow Ultrasound
Hip Ultrasound
Knee Ultrasound
Injection techniques for all the above, and sacroiliac joint and axial spin
