Dr Ong is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Clinical Director of the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the National University Hospital, Singapore.
Dr Ong has an active interest in the Gut Microbiome and led the team that performed the first Fecal Microbiota transplant in Singapore this year. He is also the PI for a study looking into Clostridium Difficile infections in Singapore.
He runs the IBD service and participates in research mainly in the field of IBD and general gastroenterology. He was one of the founding members of the IBD Sg (IBD Support Group in Singapore for patients with IBD) as well as the Crohn’s and Colitis Society of Singapore.
Apart from his clinical duties, he plays an active role in teaching and serves as an Assistant Professor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and serves as Associate Chairman of the Medical Board in the Risk and Medico Legal Department of the Hospital.
In his spare time, he enjoys doing community work and serves as the Co-Chair of the Giving Tree Project, which has raised over 2 million dollars for needy patients.
